Enviornment Design
Project Overview
Considering these two key word MACRO/MICRO & INTERSECTION How might we transform Posner Hall Floor 3 into a more relaxing and enjoyable space for studying? How might we transform Posner Hall Floor 3 into an adventure-filled space that promotes fun and interaction?
Posner Hall
Here’s a quick background of the space. It’s occupied by full-time faculty in the Department of modern languages and institute for politics and strategy. Recently, most of the PhD students moved out because the third floor only had space for full time faculty members. Other than those individuals, the third floor is now mostly used by undergraduates.
The practical side of the project, which included the actual design and arrangement of the space, was especially fulfilling. This collaborative approach allowed us to merge different perspectives and come up with a cohesive design concept that balanced functionality with creativity. We experimented with various materials, colors, and lighting to create an attractive and welcoming atmosphere. The hands-on experience helped us better grasp spatial dynamics and how design aspects affect user experience. Overall, Posner Floor 3 was a very interesting space to work with. It was a very engaging experience to see how we could improve on the existing purpose of the space and also re-design it for an entirely different purpose too. It was also very informative to get to work with two entirely different aesthetics because it forces us to consider how people would interact differently with the environment.
